Get to know me
I’m 16 years old and currently studying Animal Management (T-Level) at Halesowen College after passing all my GCSEs at Q3 Langley. I was proud to secure one of just 15 places on this brand-new course, designed to prepare students for a future in animal care and management.
The programme is made up of 70% classroom learning and 30% hands-on experience, covering animal health, anatomy, physiology, behaviour and biology, alongside practical skills in animal care. It is also equipping me with wider knowledge in health and safety, sustainability, biosecurity, supply chain and stock management, business organisation, customer service and financial concepts giving me the tools to work safely and effectively in animal environments.
As part of the course, I need to complete a long-term placement (minimum 315 hours) working with animals, ideally on Fridays. Although I don’t yet drive at 16, I am prepared to travel for the right opportunity. To give an example of my commitment, I booked my driving theory test in Manchester the day after my birthday rather than wait an extra 2–3 months for a Birmingham slot showing I am willing to go further and do more to achieve my goals.
I am passionate about building a career in animal care and already have experience in a professional veterinary setting. During my work experience at Orchard Veterinary Centre, I was able to sit in on five separate operations and attend all the veterinary appointments that took place during my placement. This gave me valuable insight into both the clinical and day-to-day aspects of veterinary work and further strengthened my ambition to pursue this career path.
During my time at Q3 Langley, I was also featured in the 2023 Q3 promotional video, which highlights the hardworking environment I was part of. I believe it demonstrates not only the ethos I am used to but also that I can be trusted and relied upon in a professional setting.

Can you help?
If you are able to offer me a long-term placement over the next 2 years, please feel free to contact me at lucy@lucyhadley.uk.
I’d be more than happy to discuss this further or attend an interview if required. Thank you for considering my application.
